Most churches have a system or software in place to keep track of people in their church. Fellowship One and ACS Technologies are a couple of the most used.

If you do not have a system or software setup, these are great options. It is probably not a workable solution to have your entire church contact list in Gmail contacts.

But, for an individual ministry and maybe even for a small church, this could work. Combine the fact that it is a free solution with the easy access to the list that you have on the internet and with smartphone apps, it becomes an even better idea.

Your Google Contacts list is on the left in your Gmail account. In addition to phone numbers and email you can put websites and notes about each contact.

You can also group your contacts. This is great for Gmail, but also works with Google Voice. You can actually record separate voice mail messages for each phone number contact or group in your contacts. Very awesome when a volunteer calls and your message says their name and a personal greeting. Makes a huge impact and most have no idea how you did it. Thanks, Google Voice.
