Many churches and ministries have abandoned traditional paid software and programs in favor of free church software in the form of Google apps for office use and applications like Dropbox for file sharing. The biggest benefit I see from this is the mobile feature. It kind of acts like a mobile ministry command center with all of your info with you wherever you go.
If you are a workaholic, this may not be the best thing. But, if you are a responsible adult this can be extremely helpful.
Like a lot of issues that come up in the church, the solution is not necessarily church specific. The people working at Google were not bored to the point of creating church software. Their tools do solve a lot of issues though for free that work great in a church environment.
The great thing about choosing to use Google Voice for your ministry is that you also get all of the other apps in the same account. You don’t have to open and sign into a lot of various applications. You just sign into your Google account and immediately get access to the online software listed below.
Even if you do not use Google Voice, you may want to consider creating a Google account to access this free software.

I primarily use the other apps for personal use. I create notes to myself in Google Calendar and have it send reminders on the day I need to do a task. I store documents that I want access for when I am on the go.
