The Power of Local Search for Your Church
Everything online is moving toward local search. This is bad news for large companies who rely on mass advertising and large scale domination of the search engine. Why? Because even a small, local burger restaurant can take the place of a large national brand in their local community.
This is GREAT NEWS for your local church. I realize that many churches are trying to have a more national reach. Our ultimate goal should be to reach the world. But, there is the obvious issue of location to your local church. Unless you are an internet campus, you are really wanting to reach people within a certain range of miles or towns surrounding your church.
This range should be fairly easy to specify with a little thought. Once you do, you can go to work on your local marketing strategy. You can make inroads into your local search engine specifically through a blog, but also with tools like Google Places. The next push online is local and the use of mobile phones, and it will be a huge boost to your church if you are ready and moving that direction.
