The Rocket Company has created a 10 Step Guide to creating an amazing Water Baptism Video.

You could use these in the actual Water Baptism Service, or even in announcements and social media posts leading up to the event.

Most of the time these videos are either testimony stories of the person explaining why they want to be baptized, or recap videos after the service showing what happened as they take the plunge.

The footage can be edited into one video with all of them connected as a lead in or lead out of the service, or you could make them all individual clips. A person could tell their life story, or they could simply share a statement of their profession of faith.

At my last Church staff position I was responsible for filming and editing our baptism videos. We required that each person who was preparing to be baptized create a simple video.

These were not long most of the time, especially when kids were getting baptized. Most of them just stated their name and why they wanted to be baptized. They were usually around a minute or so, but some were as short as 20 seconds.

We would play these individual water baptism videos immediately before each person was baptized so the congregation could make a personal connection with them.

It was great because even the most shy kid appeared to be confident and could communicate clearly their desire to be baptized. Of course multiple takes may have been involved, but it did not appear that way.

The only real key to this was making sure you had the baptism order correct between the Pastor and tech booth so you played the correct video for the correct person.

How to create an amazing Water Baptism Video in 10 simple steps.

The Rocket Company post is titled “10 Steps To A Baptism Video”.

I felt the need to add the word “water” in there as I have never seen a video of people preparing to get baptized in the Holy Spirit. I have seen plenty of YouTube videos claiming to show the results of being baptized in the Spirit and the craziness that can ensue, but usually those are by under cover investigations of the ministry. [just kidding]

The actual 10 main steps in the post are pretty obvious. If you are going to create any video you will need to film and edit it. Some of the subpoints, however, are very helpful and many people forget to do these.

One of the best tips is something I was relentless at doing. And that is this…

PLAY THE VIDEO ALL THE WAY THROUGH BEFORE THE SERVICE.

We have all been surprised when a video did not render correctly, or the end of the video did not export.

Why not find that out BEFORE the service instead of during? And yet, so many people just leave that to chance and wait to play the video the first time when it counts the most.

That is just one of the tips in this post. Check out the full post for many more tips related to creating an excellent water baptism video at the link below.
